Jul 14, 2017 Cars: Fast as Lightning for Android is a racing game based on the popular Cars movie. While the game is definitely made for kids, and the game actually starts off by warning parents that the game has micro transactions, I can say that the game does provide enough fun gameplay experiences for older kids and perhaps adults. Cars: Fast as Lightning is a cute and fun app that combines racing and town-building with the charisma and marketability of Disney Pixar's Cars franchise. It's a friendly game, but that doesn't mean you can't use a few tips to help you make Radiator Springs shine again.
Starting Out
- Complete quests to earn rewards - Quests queue up on the left side of the screen when you're not racing. Quests offer rewards like experience and coins, and they're a good way to get back on track if you've been meandering from task to task.
- Pay attention to the difficulty meter before you race - Each car you engage in a race has a difficulty measuring from one to four. Make sure to race within your rank if you don't want to waste gas on a loss.
- Place attractions on the track to earn more experience with races - Don't neglect putting attractions on race tracks. They earn you a bit of extra experience with every race, plus they make the joint look classy.
Racing for Fun and Profit
- Ease off the gas pedal for turns - Driving around in Cars: Fast as Lightning is a pretty simple one-touch affair, but sharp turns can still be tricky. When making significant turns, ease off the gas pedal and coast, then pick up speed when you're traveling straight again.
- Take your thumb off the screen just before hitting a blue spot, then tap the screen again - Similarly, ease off the gas just before hitting a blue 'trick spot.' As soon as you hit the spot, floor it. This is your primary way of avoiding traps and pulling off neat stunts.
- Don't panic if you miss a trick - Screwed up your timing? Missed a trick? No fear. Keep on going. Chances are good you can recover without much trouble - as long as you don't miss any others.
- If a race is above two bars in difficulty, consider upgrading your vehicle before racing - If rival cars are outclassing you, it's time to consider an upgrade at the garage. Upgrades cost coins, and take time to complete. Of course, you can race cars that rank high in difficulty, but do so at your own peril.
- On the racetrack, cars with a crest of laurels around their name will progress the story if you go up against them. Everyone else is practice. On the racetrack, one car in particular has their name surrounded by a laurel-shaped crest. Racing this car (and winning) causes the story to progress forward, which, in turn, lets you unlock new cars and tracks. You can race anyone zipping around the track, but doing so usually only earns you stickers for optional paint jobs.
Welcome to Radiator Springs
- Collect from buildings frequently - Buildings in Radiator Springs accumulate rent as time passes. Once its maximum is reached, the building stops accumulating coins. Make sure to collect from buildings frequently so they're always able to fill your coffers.
- Wake up sleepy cars - If a car is snoozing at their home pit, tap on them to wake them up. You'll get a little experience (and a grumpy car).
- Build towards defunct structures in order to bring them back online - You can expand Radiator Springs by tapping on construction barriers at the end of unfinished roads. Try expanding towards decrepit structures like the mine and the car wash to bring them back online.
- Help direct cars to town attractions to earn easy experience - Oftentimes, the cars cruising around Radiator Springs have little thought bubbles over their heads. Tap the bubbles to read the car's thoughts: they usually want to visit a certain attraction. Tap on the relevant attraction to send them on their way. You'll earn experience for your troubles.
