Two transfer options are available during an active call:

  • A warm transfer (attended) allows users to speak privately with the receiving party before transferring the call. A warm transfer also confirms the availability of the receiving party.
  • A blind transfer (unattended) allows users to send calls to an alternate extension or phone number without waiting for an answer or confirming the availability of the receiving party.

To Transfer a Call:

  1. During an active call, press the Transfer button or the xfer soft key (varies by phone model).

NOTE: Soft keys are buttons that administrators can flexibly program to perform various functions, as opposed to buttons that are associated with a single fixed function.

  1. Dial the phone number or extension. On phones with the xfer soft key, press the dial soft key after entering the phone number or extension.
  2. Transfer the call to the receiving party.
    • Warm Transfer: After the receiving party answers the call, press the Transfer button or the xfer soft key (varies by phone model).
    • Blind Transfer: Before the receiving party answers the call, press the Transfer button or the xfer soft key again (varies by phone model).

Pepperdine's unified messaging system, Unity, is provided for employees of the University. This message system allows employees to access voicemail messages through both the telephone and email. Students who wish to have a voicemail must complete a voicemail request form at OneStop.

Below are instructions to setting up the Unity system on your Cisco telephone. Once you have completed the setup process your voicemail box will be ready to receive messages.

There are three ways to accessing and setting up your voicemail:

Setting up voicemail from a Cisco telephone

  1. From your telephone, pick up your receiver and press the voicemail button looks like an envelope with word 'message' above it.
  2. Enter the temporary passcode given to you by Network Services. (Or see instructions to reset your passcode yourself.)
  3. The Unity system will prompt you to:
    • Record your name
    • Record a greeting
    • Set a new password (a minimum of 5-digits)
  4. Once you have completed all the prompts your voicemail box is ready to receive messages.

From any campus telephone

  1. From a campus telephone, dial 4002 - (this is the extension to the Unity messaging system).
  2. When the system answers with its welcome message, 'Hello Unity messaging system...'
    1. Immediately press the star key (*)
    2. Enter your voicemail ID number (this will be the last four digits of your phone number or 4-digit extension) followed by #.
    3. Enter the temporary passcode given to you by Network Services. (Or see instructions to reset your passcode yourself.)
  3. The Unity system will prompt you to:
    • Record your name
    • Record a greeting
    • Set a new password (a minimum of 5-digits)
  4. Once you have completed all the prompts your voicemail box is ready to receive messages.

From an off campus telephone

  1. From an off campus phone dial (310) 506-4002.
  2. When the system answers with it's welcome message, 'Hello Unity messaging system...'
    1. Immediately press the star key (*)
    2. Enter your voicemail ID number (this will be the last four digits of your phone number or 4-digit extension) followed by the pound key (#)
    3. Enter the temporary passcode given to you by Network Services. (Or see instructions to reset your passcode yourself.)
  3. The Unity system will prompt you to:
    • Record your name
    • Record a greeting
    • Set a new password (a minimum of 5-digits)
  4. Once you have completed all the prompts your voicemail box is ready to receive messages.

Self Service Cisco Passcode Reset

  1. Visit: https://voicemail.pepperdine.edu/ciscopca/home.do
  2. Enter the following information:
    Your NetworkID and Pepperdine password
    Domain = student (for students)
    Domain = pepperdine (for non-students)
  3. Click on 'Cisco Unity Assistant.'
  4. On the main page, scroll down to the 'Phone Password' fields. Enter a new 5-digit password in the 'New Password' field; and re-enter it in the 'Confirm New Password' field.
  5. Click the 'Save' button at the bottom of the screen.
  6. Click the 'Log Out' button on the upper right hand corner of the screen.
